With stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, these tours consistently sell out, showing strong local interest and the growing awareness abroad of Japan’s diverse indie music scene.

Tokyo Beatniks presents brings their cross-Pacific spirit to the heart of Tokyo with Modern Beatniks — a special daytime event at Shimokitazawa Basement Bar, spotlighting some of the most exciting names in Japan’s indie and alternative scenes. This show also celebrates the analog release of Moon in June’s new 7-inch The Sky Crawlers / Paper Moon, out now on Tokyo Beatniks Record Label.

The afternoon kicks off with o_all, opening with their signature blend of minimalism and quiet emotional intensity. Next up is Pleco (Suzuko, ex. Letniy), delivering warm, shimmering indie pop layered with a renewed sense of identity and sonic depth. Moon in June take the stage third, performing songs from their new analog release The Sky Crawlers / Paper Moon — a set that promises both dreamlike atmosphere and a deeper emotional undercurrent. Closing the event is Split end, whose raw, heartfelt performance and lyrical intensity have earned them acclaim as one of the most vital voices in Japan’s live scene. Throughout the event, Tokyo Beatniks will be DJing — weaving together a carefully curated selection of modern indie J-pop that reflects their unique perspective from San Francisco to Tokyo, keeping the energy flowing between live sets.
